About the Tone Generator

This tone generator produces audio waveforms at specified frequencies using the Web Audio API. It's useful for audio testing, speaker calibration, hearing tests, and sound design.

Waveform Types
  • Sine Wave: Pure tone with a single frequency, smooth and mellow sound
  • Square Wave: Rich in odd harmonics, produces a hollow, buzzy sound
  • Sawtooth Wave: Contains all harmonics, produces a bright, brassy sound
  • Triangle Wave: Similar to sine but with odd harmonics, softer than square wave
Features
  • Wide Frequency Range: Generate tones from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz (full human hearing range)
  • Multiple Waveforms: Choose from sine, square, sawtooth, and triangle waves
  • Precise Control: Use slider for quick adjustments or input exact frequencies
  • Musical Notes: Quick access to common musical note frequencies
  • Volume Control: Adjust playback volume to comfortable levels
  • Real-Time Visualization: See the waveform while playing
Common Uses
  • Speaker and headphone testing
  • Audio equipment calibration
  • Hearing range testing
  • Musical instrument tuning
  • Sound design and synthesis learning
  • Audio system troubleshooting
Warning: High frequencies and loud volumes can be damaging to hearing. Start with low volume and gradually increase. Very high frequencies (above 15 kHz) may not be audible to all users, especially older adults.
